Tuesday, September 28, 2010: Crystal City Plan Adoption Hearing 
At their September 28 Meeting, the Arlington County Board adopted the Crystal City Sector Plan, and related General Land Use Plan amendments and Master Transportation Plan amendments. (For additional information and audio/video media from the meeting, review the September 28, 2010 Board meeting materials.) The Draft 2.0 document was adopted contingent upon the inclusion of specific changes proposed in the staff report and discussed at the meeting, and the final Crystal City Sector Plan reflects the incorporation of these changes.

AP reporter Matt Barakat covered the redevelopment of Crystal City on March 7, 2007. '60s Crystal City looks for a shining future was picked up by the Washington Times, the D.C. Examiner and covered by WJLA Channel 7, Channel 8 and Fox 5.

Crystal City Planning Task Force

The Arlington County Board appointed a Crystal City Planning Task Force to help create a vision for the future development of Crystal City. The Task Force efforts were completed with the December 2008 County Board adoption of the Policy Framework and Illustrative Concept Plan for the Crystal City Sector Plan.

Long Range Planning Committee

The Long Range Planning Committee (LRPC) of the Planning Commission led the initial review to provide feedback to staff on the draft Crystal City Sector Plan. For these discussions, the LRPC was joined by a number of former Task Force members and representatives of other advisory commissions to ensure a broad range of community feedback. Following these meetings, the draft Sector Plan was also presented to interested advisory commissions prior to Planning Commission and County Board hearings.
