Arlington Mill Community Center

facade of old Arlington Mill Center Arlington County is embarking upon a new and exciting path to create a new Arlington Mill Community Center in Columbia Heights West. Partnering with Public Private Alliances (PPA) to create a new mixed-use development on the Center’s existing site, Arlington plans to develop a new community center, up to 192 rental apartments (including 61 affordable housing units), retail shops, underground parking, and a new public plaza.

This unique public-private partnership will allow Arlington to build a new community center, while maximizing the value of its existing assets. The partnership will:

  • Expedite the completion of the community center;
  • Enable Arlington to expand original programming at the Center to include a high school-sized gym (an additional 3,000 sq. ft.), two flexible classrooms and a larger fitness center;
  • Contribute to the overall revitalization of Columbia Pike; and
  • Provide affordable housing opportunities.

Demolition of the current center is slated for September, 2008. Construction is scheduled for the winter and opening near the end of 2010.
