In a world constantly engaged with the latest technology and focused on profit and productivity, what does it mean to be truly human when it comes to business? A panel of globally recognized leaders will tackle that very issue in Arlington with Empathy in Business, a discussion focused on keeping compassion in today’s business and economic climate. Heading the panel are some of today’s most sought after global thought leaders to discuss empathy’s role in the business community.
Dr. Angel Cabrera is the newly appointed President of George Mason University and has been called one of the top 20 business school leaders in the world by the Financial Times. Bill Drayton is the CEO and founder of Ashoka Innovators for the Public, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering social entrepreneurs worldwide. In 2005, he was selected one of America's Best Leaders by U.S. News & World Report and Harvard's Center for Public Leadership. Carly Fiorina, CEO & Founder, Carly Fiorina Enterprises. Julie Rogers is President and CEO of the Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Foundation, awarding $6 million annually to community-based nonprofits in Greater Washington, DC. Recognized as a leader in national and regional philanthropy, she is part of Washingtonian magazine's "100 Most Powerful Women in the DC Region" and Washington Business Journal's "Women Who Mean Business." The panel will be moderated by Jonathan Amberman. Jonathan Aberman is Managing Director of Amplifier Ventures, and serves on the boards and committees of FounderCorps, the Virginia Biotechnology Association, the Governors Commission on Biotechnology for the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Northern Virginia Technology Council, the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association and George Mason Intellectual Properties. The Empathy in Business discussion is presented by the George Mason University Arlington Campus Advisory Board in association with Arlington Economic Development.
